Have you taken any online web design classes?

I have gotten a number of requests lately to know about the best online courses for learning HTML, CSS, and other web design topics. While it is tempting to simply point people at the free classes I offer there are a lot of other options out there - including degree and certification courses from accredited universities. But are they any good? If you have taken any online courses in web design, I would love to know about your experiences! Thanks for taking the time to write a review.

Web Design Software Pick of the Week: Irfanview

Irfanview
Irfanview is a free (for non-commercial use) image viewer for Windows. What makes it useful to web designers is that you can use it to convert image file types to other image file types. You can also use it to create ICO files for favicons by creating the image in one format and ten saving it as a .ico file with Irfanview. Plus if you have a lot of images in a specialized format, you can use Irfanview's batch formatting to convert an entire directory. If you are using it for commercial use the license is reasonably priced at $12.

Web Design Software Pick of the Week: Convert Hub

Convert Hub
Images are an important part of websites, but if you have an image in a format that isn't web compatible (something other than GIF, JPG, or PNG) it can be annoying to have to open a complex graphic program just to save it as a web image. Convert Hub will convert images found online (via URL) or on your hard drive to and from formats like BMP, EPS, TIFF, as well as GIF, JPG, and PNG, and many many more. You can change the JPG quality or use it to create a favicon out of any image. This is a very useful tool.
